Our office was established in 1999 and since then we have built up a large portfolio of retail and residential projects. Our client list includes some very strong local and global retail brands. We have worked domestically in all states of Australia and we have worked internationally on shops in Asia, New Zealand, the Middle East and the UK. We provide a full design and documentation service covering all aspects of the project allowing for a competitive tender process and clear project costings.
We don’t pretend to have a box of fairy dust but we do know a fair bit about the voodoo science of retail. In the end we like to think a lot about every project and we critically evaluate all elements of design and delivery. We know that retail design is a mix of systems and showmanship sometimes tempered by the whip of budget restraints.
In the end we work if our shop designs work.
Jim is a registered Architect with over 20 years experience on both large and small scale retail projects. Jim Buda Architects is a specialist retail design office in set up in 1999 after Jims’ 8-year retail distraction from Architecture. Jim set up Beachculture at Sydney and Brisbane Airports, The Mambo Friendship Store in Paddington, the Brazil Cafe and Market Lane Cafe in Manly. Jim has served as the head of the retail advisory committee at Sydney Airport in 1995/6 and remains vitally interested in the mechanisms of architecture, retail and design.
Along the way we have collected some awards including “surf shop fitout” of the year for Salt Water Wine and Southern Man Surf.
We have also completed a large number of residential projects ranging from small additions and alterations to larger multi residential projects across Sydney.
